Giant Ant
on May 1st, 2009The 1977 Monster Manual is chock full of giant animals — ants, eagles, even otters. But there’s little consistency to gigantism, either in absolute or relative size. A giant ant is two feet long, while a giant badger is twice the size of a regular badger. A giant lynx appears to be about the size of a grown man, while a giant slug looks to be at least thirty feet long. What does this prove? Almost nothing!
Also, that’s one of the more bizarre speech balloons I’ve drawn there in panel two. I hope it’s clear that it’s Gregoric talking, not the wall itself.
